Praia do Guincho is a stunning wild and rugged beach located 6 km west of Cascais, around 20 km from Lisbon.
A beautiful landscape and excellent wind conditions make this a perfect place to kitesurf and enjoy the nice waves if you are a more advanced kitesurfer.Show map
Strong Northern winds are predominant during summertime (June-August) and its always stronger than other spots due to a local thermal effect, the mountains, the big sandy beach and cold water current at the shore. The waves average 1m but are bigger in spring and autumn although the wind is usually weaker. There are two areas with ample space to launch your kite and the water is clean with temperatures varying between 13ºC and 18ºC. A wetsuit is recommended almost all year round.Show wind conditions

Close to Costa da Caparica is our spot, Fonte da Telha, that it's more than beaches and huge areas of white sands, although this is the first thing you'll remember when you think of it. Gusty Kite appears in 2003 in Guincho beach, the worldwide known windy beach, West of Lisbon. At the time there were almost no schools and we became the most recognized company in Portuguese market. In the next years we follow the growth of the sport and become the most successful kitesurf school in Lisbon area, having hundreds of students per year. In 2007 we opened new stations in Aveiro and Algarve and few more until 2010 with the first school in Angola.
A renewed website and image is made in 2008, and again in 2013, adapting to the new upcoming technologies and more demanding customers. Also new schools appear both in Portugal as abroad becoming an international kitesurf company.
The project gets new blood in 2017 with more people involved in management, both on the beach as in back office, in order to keep it up to date and efficient. Also a brand new website is presented, our Courses get small tweaks to improve customer appreciation, and the business gets focused in Lisbon area, where we were born, 14 years ago.
Living in Aroeira, right next to the beach I naturally became big fan of watersports and 7 years ago I got addicted to Kitesurf. Nowadays I make my job on this amazing sport and love to teach it to other people.
Head Instructor - Senior Instructor for 11 years As most Australians my connection with the sea is super strong since I was a kid. 11 years ago i discovered kitesurfing and since then my greatest passion is to make learning this sport a pleasant and thrilling experience.
Marketing and Sales Manager I was born in a small town in the interior of Ribatejo, since early I became interested in extreme sports, but only a few years later I discovered kitesurfing. Combining professional experience with my passion for kitesurfing has been the unique experience.
I was raised close to the Lisbon Coast and right next to the beach. This proximity to the sea has influenced me as a child, and I started to kitesurf in 2004. My passion turned soon into a job by associating it with the desire to travel and explore other parts of the world. In 2008 I achieved IKO kitesurf instructor qualification and open my own kite centre in Portugal.
“...And here I am. Sand under my nails, salt in my hair, with serious wind addiction, proper kite junkie. What would I do without you Gusty Kite? I'm eternally grateful!”
“Professional and great fun”
“I booked an afternoon kite-surfing experience last weekend for nine of us, as a stag-do activity. In advance Pedro was extremely helpful over email. He sorted out transport for us. Unfortunately there was no wind, so he offered a surfing lesson instead.
The instructors were fantastic. Enthusiastic, friendly and offered good advice. 3:1 is a good student:instructor ratio. Water temperature was fine for two hours in a thin wetsuit (which they provided). Value-for-money was excellent.
I would highly recommend Gustykite, and Lisbon in general”
